Daylight Savings Safety & Security Check

Safety and Security Check

Here are our top 5 maintenance tips to make safety your priority this Spring:

  1. Replace control panel batteries, test & clean devices
You should replace control panel batteries every 3-4 years. Card readers, electric locks, movement detectors and cameras should all be cleaned and checked for trouble free operation every 6 months.
  2. Replace smoke detector batteries & test
Make sure all smoke, fire and CO detectors have a fresh battery, and test them to make sure that each device is in working order.
  3. Check access control clock and set the holidays for next year
Double check your access control settings and times, ensure all data has been updated and check that the dates for the next few months’ holidays are all locked in.
  4. Update all software & firmware
It may seem tempting to delay updating software and firmware, but failing to do so leaves you open to significant security risks and means you’ll miss out on improved functionality. While the latest updates are great for the everyday person, the importance of this can’t be emphasised enough if you’re a business owner.
  5. Scan for viruses & back-up your data
When you consider how much everything is stored digitally in this day and age, your documents suddenly seem far more at risk than ever before. Viruses can do a lot of damage and certain malware can actually wipe or lock your documents, so it is important to keep your computer secure and back-up your data.
